Public Telescope

This coin-operated telescope is placed in scenic locations and is designed to have greater fog prevention and vandal resistance than currently available models.

REM’s Role

REM developed the entire product, including all mechanical, electronic, and firmware design. The hermetically sealed enclosure is made of two sand castings. The electronics are centered around a PIC microcontroller which controls the motorized focus, a coin acceptor mechanism, and the overall system behavior.
